Thank you letters-should you write them?

June 6, 2019

Thank you letters-should you write them? While it may seem like something that people no longer need to do in today’s world, you would be wrong! It really isn’t a lost art, those that truly appreciate the actions of another are doing it- and you should too!

Getting in the habit of writing thank you letters sooner rather than later is best. You will find that as you grow older you won’t be sending text messages for things like weddings, baby showers or professional occasions at work. Use those skills you learned throughout High School not only to show good manners but to show someone else you are grateful for all they have done?

There are many opportunities you will have to write thank you letters during your Senior Year! You have Coaches and Teachers who have supported or inspired you, those who write your recommendation letters and the obvious one-your graduation party! You will likely have a bunch of attendees, cards and gifts. While this may seem overwhelming, think about this in terms of the amount of people who believe in you and the success you are creating for yourself! 😀

To help you with thanking all these amazing people who love you, here are some tips to keep in mind:

-Address the person(s) you are thanking by name and title if necessary

-Mention the gift that was given to you specifically . It’s alright to be generic if you are unsure. A great idea would be to make a list of what you received as you opened them!

-Write each letter by hand and sign them yourself.

-If you do have printed notes, make sure to include a genuine hand written addition with your signature at the bottom!

-Mail them in a timely manner. You don’t want to be mailing them from your dorm, haha!

-Write them in batches and address them as you go, this will be a time saver and if you have a lot of them will make things easier for you!
